This new initiative is known as the DE Rantau Pass and aims at those who wish to work remotely while living anywhere. According to the new regulations, international remote workers will soon be able to stay in Malaysia for up to two years instead of the current 90-day limit!

What is DE Rantau?
DE Rantau aspires to make Malaysia the preferred Digital Nomad Hub to increase digital adoption and encourage digital professional mobility and tourism throughout Malaysia.
By developing a thriving ecosystem that may help digital nomads regain the balance between working and living, it aims to assist both local talent and foreign nomads.
The development of DE Rantau Hubs, which are approved lodgings for nomads, will also assist local lodging providers and owners and aid in resurgence of the tourism industry.
DE Rantau is one of the Malaysia Digital Catalytic Programmes (PEMANGKIN) within Malaysia Digital (MD), which aims to improve the country’s digital capabilities and advance the digital economy.
What is a DE Rantau Nomad Pass?
The De Rantau Nomad Pass is a Professional visit Pass designed to grant qualified foreign digital nomads to work and travel in Malaysia for up to 12 months; this pass can be renewed for another year.
Those holding this pass are allowed to bring their spouse and children. The application got this pass will be officially open on 1st October 2022; you can visit this site to register.
