How To Get Your Credit Report In Malaysia

Time and again we have mentioned and heard about how important your credit report is, especially when you are applying for a loan. Banks and other financial institutions place great importance on the credit report of anyone who comes to do business with them. Obviously, this makes it very important that we keep a good and clean credit report. Yet how do you know whether your credit report is good if you don’t even see it?

Some people believe that you can only see your credit report if you are part of a financial institution. This is not the case; anyone can see their own credit report.

In this article, we will tell you how you can get your credit or CCRIS report.

What is CCRIS?

CCRIS stands for Central Credit Reference Information System. It is a centralized system under Bank Negara which compiles data on your outstanding loan amount and payment history for the past 12 months, at any given time. Any records older than 12 months are erased.

How can I get my credit report?

There are a few ways you can get your credit (or CCRIS) report.

1. Go to Bank Negara

You can get your CCRIS report by simply going to Bank Negara Malaysia with your MyKad and other supporting documents that can verify your identity such as your driving licence or passport. Once there, you can approach a counter and submit a request for a report and it will be provided to you due course. Or you could find the credit kiosk and insert your MyKad into the slot. You will be prompted to place your right thumb for fingerprint identification. Once your identity has been verified, you can print out a copy of your report.
