Ericsson plans to start manufacturing its ‘latest’ and ‘most advanced’ 5G radios in Malaysia by the third quarter of 2022.
David Hägerbro, President & CEO of Ericsson Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh highlighted Malaysia’s skilled workforce and strong infrastructure that contributed towards the country being chosen as the first location within the region.
David: “It is also an expression of Ericsson’s long-term commitment to the country, including the 5G network that we are rolling out.”
Ericsson plans to boost its investments and create more job opportunities in the country through these manufacturing plans. Hägerbro mentions, “The collaboration is expected to reach up to 1,200 students in the first year alone and will enable UTM students to participate and contribute to the country’s digital economy and Industry 4.0 transformation.”
Malaysia has recorded a significant growth in trade, and this trend is expected to continue as more opportunities come to allow for its advancement as a nation.
Recently, the Department of Statistics Malaysia has announced the country’s year-on-year increase of 24.9% in external trade, surpassing the RM2 trillion mark for the first time in 2021.
The remarkable performance of domestic exports and re-exports have contributed to a rise of 26.1% amounting to RM1.2 trillion, says chief statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin.
