Dry or with soup, beef noodles are an irresistible Malaysian cuisine. There’s nothing like a hot bowl of beef noodles to lift up your spirits and fill up your stomach. You can find beef noodles in all sorts of shapes and sizes, like beef tripe, beef ball, beef brisket, minced beef and beef mix. You can have the dish with different types of noodles, like yellow noodles, flat rice noodles (hor fun) and vermicelli. When it comes to the soup, everything depends on the broth, which must be rich and flavourful. In this article, we will be talking about the 5 places you can get the best beef noodles in Kuala Lumpur.
1. Soong Kee Beef Noodles
This is an easy to find restaurant, just look for the tinted glass door in Chinatown and you’ll find it full to the brim, with some patrons overflowing at the entrance. Soong Kee Beef Noodles are exceptional, they are practically a delicacy, with juicy minced pork and flavourful soup; if you think you don’t like it, you are lying to yourself. And you will definitely be coming back for more.
2. Tiffin’s by Chef Korn
Tiffin’s By Chef Korn can be hard to find if you don’t know where to look. Chef Korn uses his own family recipes for each of the dishes served here, including the beef noodles. The noodles are packed with herbs and garnishes that will have you ordering more and more. The meat balls have a tender texture while the rice moves easily down your throat with the broth. They even give you an assortment of seasoning and sauces so you can customise the dish to suit your tastes.
3. Ngau kee
This restaurant has been a food fixture in KL for over 40 years, making it one of the oldest beef ball noodle shops in the city. The various beef noodles they serve are listed on a huge yellow signboard with picture and prices. The noodles have a springy texture, are soft and go remarkably well with the meat and broth. It goes great with the refreshing lime and plum juice that they served along with it as well. We cannot recommend this place enough, you must try it for yourself.
4. Cow King
Cow King is a well known noodle stall in Pudu. The stall is hidden behind a roadside curry laksa stall, making it hard to find unless you are really looking. We decided to try the dry noodles here, which came with a bowl of egg noodles topped with minced meat and a bowl of piping hot beef soup filled with beef balls, beef stripes, and beef stomach. The soup was flavourful, the noodles had a chewy texture and the meat tasted splendid. We’re definitely going there again whenever we get the chance.
5. Yang Kee
In an unforgettable stretch of famous hawker stalls around Jalan Peel, you can find some of the most delicious foods. Among them is the Yang Kee Beef Noodles stall. We tried their dry beef noodles. It did not disappoint, with delicious thin yellow noodles, appetising minced beef and a satisfying bowl of beef soup, it was the best lunch we had had in a long time.
